HK shares edge down at open, tracking US falls

Hong Kong shares opened with small losses on Wednesday following a retreat in New York overnight while investors are also keeping tabs on developments in the Evergrande crisis as the troubled property giant faces a fresh interest payment deadline.

The Hang Seng Index dipped 0.1 percent to 24,787.

The Shanghai Composite Index eased 0.2 percent to 3,498 and the Shenzhen Composite Index fell 0.3 percent to 2,428. (AFP)
