HK stocks open lower, dragged down by Omicron jitters

Hong Kong stocks fell at the open on Wednesday morning, weighed by continued fears about the Omicron variant despite a rally on Wall Street.

The Hang Seng Index fell 0.6 percent to 23,142.

The Shanghai Composite Index fell 0.3 percent to 3,621, while the Shenzhen Composite Index on China’s second exchange also lost 0.3 percent, to 2,507. (AFP)
