The Hang Seng Index shed 0.7 percent, or 165 points, to 24,218.

The Shanghai Composite Index rose 0.6 percent, or 20 points, to 3,541, while the Shenzhen Composite Index gained 1.5 percent, or 37 points, to 2,473. (AFP)
